Tension as hyena escapes from Jos Wildlife Park

…Residents urged to be vigilant

The Plateau State Tourism Corporation (PSTC) has reported that a hyena has escaped from its enclosure at the Jos Wildlife Park.

In a statement released on Monday, July 8, 2024, in Jos, the corporation emphasized the importance of public safety and assistance in locating the missing animal.

Known as one of Plateau’s premier tourist destinations, the Jos Wildlife Park is celebrated for its natural conservation efforts. The management of the park alerted the public as a precautionary measure, urging vigilance and cooperation in apprehending the hyena.

“Our dedicated team of Game-guards and Park-rangers, supported by drone technology, is actively tracking the hyena,” the statement assured.

“We are implementing all necessary measures to locate and safely return the animal to its enclosure promptly.”

The corporation advised the public to avoid approaching the hyena if spotted and to immediately contact park authorities at 09026927620 or 09131000945.

They expressed gratitude for public cooperation and pledged to provide updates as the situation progresses.
