Suspected terrorists have abducted seven construction workers, including two officials of the Kwara State Ministry of Works, during an attack on a construction site in Oba community, Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Sources told Starnews NG that the attackers stormed the site while construction work was ongoing, overpowering the workers before forcefully marching them into the surrounding bush.
“The attackers came suddenly, overpowered the workers and took them away without any immediate resistance,” a source said.
Those abducted were said to be part of an ongoing construction project in the community. As of the time of filing this report, it remains unclear whether the abductors have contacted the families of the victims or made any ransom demands.
Neither the Kwara State Government nor security agencies have issued an official statement on the incident.
The abduction comes amid heightened security concerns in Kwara State. Newsmen recently reported that Nigerian soldiers arrested suspected bandits in Ifelodun Local Government Area, where the suspects were intercepted while allegedly patrolling in a local security vehicle with AK-47 rifles.
In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the suspects were seen restrained as soldiers interrogated them over the source of the weapons and the patrol vehicle. One of the suspects claimed that both the vehicle and firearms were provided by the Kwara State government, an allegation that has not been officially confirmed.
Residents of Oba community have expressed fear over the latest abduction, calling on authorities to intensify security operations and ensure the safe rescue of the victims.
The incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Kwara State, where residents continue to face threats from armed groups targeting both civilians and public officials.
