Suspected cultists arrested with gun, live cartridges

Delta state police officers have detained individuals suspected of having ties to the Black Axe fraternity during a routine patrol.

Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the command, disclosed this information in a statement released on Sunday.

The apprehended suspects were in transit in a GLK vehicle along Ibusa Road when the patrol team, engaged in a standard stop-and-search operation, intercepted them and confiscated ammunition.

He wrote, “Operatives attached to the Command’s Bufallo squad, while on routine patrol along Ibusa Road, intercepted a black GLK conveying six young boys.

“Upon searching the suspects and the vehicle, a locally made cut-to-size gun and two live cartridges were recovered,” the command’s spokesperson revealed.

Noting that although passersby, seeing officers stopping random vehicles for a search, alleged that innocent youths are being harassed, Edafe stated that the investigation “revealed that they are suspected members of Black Axe confraternity.”
