The Joint Action Committee of Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Associated Institutions and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities will on Monday meet to determine the next move following the failure of the Federal Government to reach out to the unions on the payment and sharing formula of N22.13bn earned allowances for workers of federal universities.
The PUNCH reported that almost three weeks after the Federal Government promised to pay the earned allowances through the unions of university workers which including the Academic Staff Union of Universities, no payment had been made and no explanation had been made to the unions.
Three unions had reportedly had squabbled over the sharing formula following the insistence of ASUU on 75 per cent of the total amount.
SSANU and NASU had gone ahead to declare a three-day national protest over the sharing formula as well as the failure of the Federal Government to release the money.
The National President of SSANU, Mohammed Ibrahim, in an interview with our correspondent stated that the Federal Government did not reach out to the union.
He said, “As I speak with you, the Federal Government has not reached out to us; the money has not been paid and the issue of sharing formula has also not been resolved.
“We, SSANU and NASU, will be meeting with the NEC on Monday. It is after the meeting on Monday that we will make our final deliberations.”
