A few days after his release from prolonged detention in Kuje prison, embattled Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has narrowly escaped an alleged assassination attempt.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Darlington revealed that unknown gunmen shot at his car multiple times, leaving it severely damaged.

The singer expressed concern for his safety, accusing an unnamed individual of orchestrating the attack.

According to Punch, the incident, which reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday, took place as the singer was leaving a club in the Victoria Island area of Lagos State.

It was learnt that the footage showed bullet holes in the rear of the vehicle, serving as evidence of the attack.

“Long face sent killers my way, and I have not even posted anything. Bro, is this necessary? You tried to take my life. Really?” he said, visibly shaken in the video.

While the identity of the alleged perpetrator remains undisclosed, the rapper’s claims have sparked conversations on social media about his recent controversies and publicised detention.

The rapper, known for his flamboyant personality and bold statements, was released from Kuje prison less than a week ago, where he was held for undisclosed charges.

As the incident gains attention, fans and well-wishers have flooded his comment section with messages of support and prayers for his safety.

One of his fans simply identified himself on Instagram as Agbons O posted, “Na pump action. Them wan just threaten u. Buh for real, this new look fit Akpi o”

In another post, Ng (ngreigns) said, “…Chai..You will live and not die. You bring joy to millions and God will continue to guide you.”

Also, Mr Black @nanakwakuwhyte advised Speed Darlington to “Leave Nigeria please and come back to New York where we your die hard fans can’t afford to lose you.”
