Speed Darlington Granted Bail After Almost A Month in Custody

Nigerian rapper Darlington Achakpo, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has regained his freedom after being in police detention for almost a month.

His legal troubles began on November 27 when he was arrested during a performance in Owerri, Imo State, over allegations linked to his public remarks about Afrofusion artist Burna Boy.

The court’s decision to grant bail comes after prolonged discussions surrounding his detention.

Legal attempts to secure his release had been ongoing, with promises of either arraignment or bail within 48 hours.

This development marks a turning point in the case, which had drawn attention due to its ties to free speech concerns in the entertainment industry.
