Sowore, Corps Member Storm NYSC Office, Meet Officials’ Absence

By Charles Maduka

Human rights activist and the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore accompanied National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member Ushie Rita Uguamaye to the Eti-Osa Local Government Inspector (LGI) office in Lagos earlier today.

Uguamaye had been summoned after a social media video she posted criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration and calling him a terrible president, highlighting economic hardships faced by Nigerians. In response, NYSC authorities directed her to appear at the Eti-Osa 3 local government office by 10 a.m. on Monday.

Upon arrival with some team of lawyers, , they found the LGI officials absent. Despite waiting for hours, , they could not address Uguamaye’s concerns. Sowore criticized the absence as a lack of accountability and courage within the NYSC system. The situation has drawn public attention, with many criticizing the NYSC for various threats issued to Rita.

MY ADVICE TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS TO BUILD COPPERS’ LODGE/ HOSTEL IN EACH LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERATION WITH TOILETS & BATHS, BEDS & MATTRESSES, WARDROBES, BOREHOLE AND A WELL FURNISHED COMMON ROOM IN EACH UNIT OF THE HOSTEL. THIS WILL BRING RELIEF TO THESE CHILDREN. EVEN IF IT IS TO PAIR IN A ROOM, IT WILL REALLY HELP. SO WHEN THEY ARE GOING, THEY ALREADY KNOW THAT AT LEAST, THEY HAVE WHERE TO PUT THEIR HEADS.
