Streets and marketplaces in the South-East states were deserted on Monday owing to the “Sit at Home” order issued by IPOB leaders in commemoration of the anniversary of the Biafra war.
The different southeast governors and the police had issued different statements, assuring the residents to go about their lawful businesses and promised maximum security for the people.
But the residents of Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, and Abia States, comprising the southeast, however, ignored the assurance of both the government and the security agents and decided to stay at homes in strict compliance with the instructions cascaded by the IPOB leaders, Starnews Nigeria can report.
Markets, banks, motor parks, and other commercial places, including schools and government offices, were deserted by residents.
