South-West PDP must unite to progress — Eddy Olafeso

A former National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Eddy Olafeso, has called on the aggrieved members of the party to sheathe their swords and embrace unity for the party to move forward.

The PDP in the South-West has been engulfed in leadership crisis in recent time.

The development had led to a division in the party, with the emergence of two factions – one loyal Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde; while the second is loyal to a former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose.

Olafeso, spoke with our correspondent in Ile-Oluji, he headquarters of the Ile-Oluji/Oke Igbo Local Government Area of Ondo State during the ICT training for the youths of Ondo South Senatorial District.

The training was organised by the senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Nicholas Tofowomo.

No fewer than 150 youths were presented with desktop computers.

Olafeso reiterated that peace and unity remained the solution to the crisis facing the main opposition party in the South-West.

He said, “I have been known for my position in politics for so long; we must be united, nobody wins alone. If anybody is making a mistake, we have to correct him. I am not going to use the media to challenge my colleagues; I am going to appeal to all that it is a privilege to be voted for. I have lost serially in politics but I still love everybody. The earlier we all come together, the better.”

He commended Tofowomo for organising the seminar and presenting the ICT tools to the participants, saying it would go a long way in solving youths unemployment in the senatorial district.

In his remarks, the senator said the motive behind the gesture was to take the youths out of unemployment and make them self-reliant through ICT.
