Soldier killed, another missing, 5 injured, as bandits ambush Nigerian troops in Sokoto

Nigerian troops from Operation Hadarin Daji have been ambushed by suspected extremist groups at Gidan Rana along the Main Supply Route between Isa and Gudumi in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto state.

The troops, while on patrol, encountered heavy gunfire and successfully repelled the assailants, though exact details of enemy casualties remain unclear.

Zagazola reports that tragically, one soldier was killed in action, five others sustained injuries, and one personnel is reported as missing in action. Additionally, a military technical vehicle was destroyed in the attack.

According to the report, the injured troops were swiftly evacuated to Isa General Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.

Meanwhile, an immediate follow-up operation was launched to locate and recover the missing personnel, but details remain sketchy as investigations continue.
