The terror gripping the Akoko area of Ondo State shows no sign of abating, with the latest tragedy striking yesterday afternoon on the Arigidi-Okeagbe road near TB Joshua Land.
The victim, known simply as Yakubu, was discovered lying in a pool of blood in the middle of the road, his throat savagely slit, and his motorcycle vanished.
It was gathered that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Okeagbe, along with Civil Defence officer Tajudeen Mutiu and Amotekun Corps members, were observed working to transport the body to the State Specialist Hospital morgue in Ikare Akoko.
This incident marks the fourth such killing in the region, deepening the sense of dread among residents and travellers who now fear using the road.
Recently, Akoko’s monarchs gathered in Ogbagi Akoko to confront the surge in violence, while the Akoko Security and Economic Development Council has emphasised the urgent need for community-based security measures to tackle the escalating crisis.
