Senator Tofowomo: The Architect of Modern Ondo South.

Year 2020 was welcomed with a good prospect and hope that it will be a restoration to reclaim all the lost grounds of over four months interregnum created by the unfortunate accident Senator Nicholas Tofowomo had on September 6, 2019.

However, Year 2020 was a disheartening one, infact many tagged the year as a year of reversal of fortunes, where not much progress was made and indeed many lost their lives as a result of the still ongoing global pandemic of COVID-19 for people all over the world and Nigeria with economic meltdown caused as a result of COVID-19 pandemic effect and #EndSARS protest among others. However, Senator Nicholas Tofowomo representing Ondo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly did not allow the adverse effects to stop his performance.

Senator Nicholas Tofowomo geared up and swung to actions with the sole prospect to cover up for the loss caused by the unfortunate accident and also fulfill the promise made to the good people of Ondo South Senatorial District during electioneering period. Irrespective of the daunting challenges in the year 2020, Senator Tofowomo was able to garnered some reasonable positive achievements.

Senator Nicholas Tofowomo, the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Land Transport played a crucial role in the quest to cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic, the Senator distributed food palliatives to over 500 vulnerable and special people (physically challenged people) constituents for sustenance during the lockdown.

It must also be mentioned that in course of 2020, Senator Tofowomo facilitated employment in Federal Agencies like Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Correctional Service, Niger Delta Development Commission among others to no less than 10 constituents (check www.tofowomo.com), ensured that over 100 constituents.

Senator Nicholas Tofowomo through his 2020 constituency project facilitated the following projects – some of which have been completed and others in pipeline, to be executed before the end of January 2021.

– Enlist 440 youths and 100 women on Federal Government Special Public Works Programme.

– Facilitates Completion of Erinje Town Hall (Ongoing Project)

– Training/Empowerment of 100 Youths from Ondo South on Solar Power: Each beneficiary went home with 2 big Solar panels, 12KVA Inverter, Solar controllers, Solar Lightning, Solar Kit Tool Box, Solar Fns and also financial grants for startup. (Completed)

– Training/Empowerment of Youths on ICT: 150 Beneficiaries were given a brand new HP computer, 3-in-1 HP Wireless Printer, among other computing materials (Completed)

– Strategic Empowerment of Youths & Women: 100 youths were given motorcycles and 100 women were given sewing machines. (Completed)

Aside the nominated projects under the Zonal Intervention Projects, Senator Nicholas Tofowomo facilitated:

– Over 60 Solar Street Lights to Ilutitun community in Okitipupa LG; Odigbo LG, Irele LG and Ile-Oluji LG while that of Ilaje and Ese-Odo are under processing.

– 4-classroom block in Araromi Obu community of Odigbo LG.

As a Senator, the primary duty is to make laws and advocate for dividend of democracy for his constituents, Senator Tofowomo did not fail in the aspect of lawmaking, he was able to present two bills (1 of it which is in 2nd reading), 5 urgent and important motions as it affects his constituency viz:

– Tertiary Education Trust Fund Act 2007 (Ammendment Bill, 2020).

– Federal School of Basic Studies (Establishment) Bill, 2020.

MOTIONS

– Motion on Nigerian Security Challenges: Urgent Need to Restructure, Review and Reorganize Security Architecture.

– Motion of Urgent Public Importance on Need to Rescue Ayetoro Community, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State from Ocean Surge.

– Motion on Urgent Need to Compel all Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria to Subscribe to E-validation of Results Portal so that Employers and relevant organizations within and outside Nigeria can verify the results of Nigerian graduates.

We look forward to the year 2021 for greater opportunities that will better the life of Ondo South Senatorial District.
