The Nigerian Senate has announced a provisional date for the passage of the 2025 Appropriation Bill.
According to Politics Nigeria, Solomon Adeola, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, stated that the budget, which President Bola Tinubu presented to a joint session of the National Assembly, is expected to be passed on January 31.
Adeola shared this information during a meeting with the heads of all Senate standing committees.
On December 18, President Tinubu presented a N49.7 trillion budget to lawmakers. Following its second reading, Adeola explained that the defense of the budget by various ministries, agencies, and parastatals would begin on Tuesday, December 7.
He added that reports from these defense sessions would be submitted between January 15 and 18.
“The Appropriations Committee will then consolidate and finalize these reports, with the goal of presenting the final budget report to the Senate on January 31. However, this date is provisional and is meant to guide our process,” Adeola noted.
