Sen Tofowomo @ 61: Happy Birthday To My Hero

Nicholas Tofowomo was gifted to the world today as a remarkable being. Regardless of what anyone says, to me, he is my HERO. He is such a great and amazing leader and a source of inspiration to many people.

He is my HERO because of his courage, outstanding achievements, and noble qualities in providing leadership for our people despite his health challenges which took him out of the Senate for one year due to the unfortunate and fatal accident he had on September 6, 2019.

Nicholas Tofowomo, the Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District of Ondo State suffered a bone fracture in an automobile accident on the Ilesha-Akure highway while returning to Akure from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

He cheated death on two occasions. God saved his life and that of three others in the car accident that claimed the life of a beautiful princess, an excellent Politician of note, late Mrs Toyin Ajinde. May God console her loved ones and be with the family she left behind.

Otunba Tofowomo, cheated death the second time when he slipped into coma after undergoing a brain surgery as a result of the injury that manifested from the fall out of the car crash. To date, he remains a victim of the accident because he is still on crutches. May God perfect his healing quickly.

Despite being on crutches, my HERO has moved more than five motions, sponsored four bills – many of which are in second stages. He has done several empowerments and facilitated many jobs for his constituents. And he has contributed immensely to many national issues at the Senate plenary for a better Nigeria.

Tofowomo, ‘the Otunba Jin Jin alias gbe body e’ (i.e carry your body) as fondly called by his people, has indeed carried his body despite his ill health by given hope to the hopeless in our society when he organised different types of training programmes for his people by teaching them needed skills for self reliance against the old order of given out peanuts in form of cash to the people.

Olubukola Nicholas Tofowomo, our voice in Ondo State at the 9th Senate, wrote yesterday on his official Facebook page that his constituents should expect more good news as he works smartly to spring mother of surprises in a couple of weeks following his determination to close the gap created by the accident.

As a boss, all these years, Otunba, has not only been a great boss to me, but also a very loving and caring father. I see him as a father not because I am his biological son, but because he treats me constantly as a son.

He is a wonderful boss and my boss for life. He always treats me with love and respect. He is my teacher too. He forgives me easily when remorseful of any wrong doing and would never hold grudges as a Christian.

The Ondo South Senator is very humble. He is a man that tolerates insult but very good at sending back senses.

He is a detribalised Nigerian but he doesn’t joke with the development of his people and he  will never trade out anything that would bring development for his people. Ditto his passion and support for Ondo South to produce the candidate of his party in the last gubernatorial primary of the PDP in Ondo State and his unflishing supports for Chief Eddy Olafeso – a foremost PDP Leader in Ondo State from Okitipupa Local Government who is currently aspiring to return as the National Vice Chairman of the PDP in the Southwest.

I wish Senator Tofowomo a very happy birthday. I’m grateful to work with a boss who is very passionate about the progress of others. With Tofowomo, there is no half measure in giving poltical support to people. Once he is with you, he is in with you, and once he is out, he would be out. He isn’t a pretentious human being.

It is my hope that Sen Nicholas Tofowomo continues to spread his wings and fly about all mountains and challenges of life. May his heart knows happiness today as he celebrates his 61st birthday.

Pst Akinrinlola Olumide is the SA, Media and Publicity to Senator Nicholas Tofowomo.
