The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Reconciliation Committee led by the former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has applauded the matured ways and manners the Ondo State PDP stakeholders presented their grievances to the Committee without casting aspersions on the other factions of the Party led by the Hon. Fatai Adams who were absent from the meeting due to a late communication that shifted the meeting by a week from the National Committee.
While meeting with the committee yesterday, at the PDP National Campaign Headquarters in Abuja, the PDP leaders laid their complaints against the running of the party in Ondo State.
Hon. Ebenezer Alabi, former State Party Chairman, Chief Tunde Akindehin, former State Deputy Chairman and one time Caretaker Committee Chairman for Kwara State and Hon. Dayo Akinsoyinu, a four times member of the Ondo State House of Assembly and Majority Leader, who spoke for the Like Minds of the Party from Ondo State laid the foundations of the problems in the party in Ondo State, which culminated in the present and continued rancor in the Party in Ondo State.
They blamed the poor outings of PDP in past gubernatorial elections in Ondo State on the accumulated issues which have never been treated fairly, squarely neither eradicated within the party.
They particularly made references to the way and manners both the last State Gubernatorial Primary and State Party Congress were badly handled in the state, which led to winner takes all and eventual catastrophe that befell the party in the 2020 gubernatorial election.
The team pleaded with the committee to urgently look into the pile up problems mitigating against the party in Ondo State.
Other issues raised was the arbitrary and the unilateral actions of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to deviate from the joint agreements of party Leaders reached at the South West Zonal Caucus meeting held on 12th March 12, 2020 at the Government House, Agodi Ibadan, which zoned the Zonal positions to the South West states.
The leaders appealed for a peaceful, free and fair Zonal Congress, with strict adherence to the authentic delegate lists from the six States.
Responding, the Committee Chairman, Senator Bukola Saraki apologised for the sudden change in the date of the meeting due to unforeseen challenges at the level of the Committee.
He thanked the team and particularly acknowledged the matured ways the team complaints were laid before the committee. He further assured them that, the Committee will still listen to the other sides and reverts, and if possible call for another joint meeting.
