Sad: Police ASP Found Dead

An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Shafi’u Bawa, was discovered dead in his residence in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State on Saturday.

According to Top newspaper, Authorities confirmed that the officer’s father, Usman Bawa, a resident of the Rigasa area in Kontagora, reported the incident to the police.

Sources revealed that Bawa was found unresponsive in his room on Saturday afternoon. Upon receiving the distress report, police officers arrived at the scene and transported his body to the General Hospital, Kontagora, where medical personnel confirmed his death. His remains were later handed over to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic traditions.

A statement from the police provided further details:

“Today, Saturday, 08/02/25, at approximately 14:10 hours, Mr. Usman Bawa of Rigasa, Kontagora, reported that his son, AP/No 337979, ASP Shafi’u Usman Bawa, was found lifeless. His body was taken to the General Hospital, Kontagora, where a doctor confirmed his passing. The corpse has since been released to the family for burial according to Islamic rites. Further updates will follow.”

Efforts to obtain additional information from the Niger State Police Command spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or messages.
