Robbers Attack UI Hostel, Steal Students’ Belongings

In the early hours of Saturday, suspected robbers stormed Awolowo Hall at the University of Ibadan, taking valuables from students.

The attackers carted away mobile phones, jewelry, clothing, and other personal items. Some students suffered physical assaults during the incident, which lasted for hours.

Security personnel responded to distress calls from the victims, and some suspects were later arrested and handed over to the Sango Police Station. A manhunt is ongoing for those who escaped.

The university’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, confirmed the incident, stating that hall wardens reported the stolen items. Efforts to get a response from the state police spokesperson, CSP Adewale Osifeso, were unsuccessful.
