Rivers Assembly Gives Gov Fubara 48 Hours to Submit 2025 Budget

By Bayero Ade

The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, instructing him to present the 2025 budget to avoid breaching appropriation laws.

The directive was announced during Monday’s plenary session in Port Harcourt, where lawmakers underscored the need for compliance with established legal procedures in the state’s budgetary process.

This move follows a recent Supreme Court decision that reinstated over 20 lawmakers aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, reshaping the political landscape within the assembly.

Lawmakers insisted that the governor must fulfill his constitutional obligations to ensure smooth governance and financial planning for the state.
