A major financial scandal has rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, with allegations that funds from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), intended for educational development, were misappropriated to support the party’s activities.
According to a petition obtained by SaharaReporters, the APC State Working Committee allegedly diverted N325 million from TETFUND for party operations from October 2023 to October 2024.
Mrs. Patricia Yakubu, the APC Women Leader in Adamawa, raised these allegations in a petition addressed to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. Yakubu accused top party officials of embezzling funds, bypassing official party financial structures, and creating financial hardships for party members at the grassroots.
Allegations of Fund Mismanagement
The petition claims that party leaders funneled the N325 million through individual accounts instead of the party’s official accounts, violating financial protocols. Additionally, contracts awarded by TETFUND to educational institutions such as the Federal College of Education (FCE) Yola and the Gombe Medical College (GMMC) were allegedly sold for personal profit, with the proceeds hidden from party members.
Yakubu also accused the party leadership of misappropriating N15 million donated by former Education Minister, Prof. Tahir Mamman, in December 2023 for Christmas welfare. According to her, only a fraction of the amount reached party executives, with substantial sums unaccounted for.
Leadership Manipulation
The petition further alleged a conspiracy within the party leadership to remove Yakubu from her position in an attempt to silence her and cover up the financial irregularities.
In her plea, Yakubu called for urgent intervention to investigate the allegations and restore trust in the APC’s leadership in Adamawa.

“I humbly draw your attention to some incessant violations of the party’s constitution, monumental fraud, and lack of mature leadership being perpetrated by a few members of the State Working Committee,” the petition reads.
“Payments of N25,000,000 monthly from TETFUND, starting October 2023, total N325,000,000. These funds, meant for running party activities, have been channeled through personal accounts. The party account and financial secretary have been sidelined, in clear violation of the constitution.”
Yakubu also highlighted the suffering of party members who cannot afford basic needs like school fees or medical bills, while funds meant for party activities are misused.
Call for Action
The petition calls for an investigation into these allegations and demands accountability from the Adamawa APC leadership. Yakubu emphasized the need for immediate intervention to address corruption and ensure that party funds are used appropriately.
This scandal adds to mounting pressure on the APC in Adamawa, as the party faces growing scrutiny over internal management and financial transparency.
