Retired military personnel on Tuesday gathered at the Ministry of Finance in Abuja to demand payment of their outstanding entitlements.
They blocked the entrance with chairs and canopies, disrupting operations and preventing staff from accessing the premises.
The retirees, who previously staged a similar protest in December, claim the government has failed to pay a promised balance after settling half of their entitlements last month.
They are seeking the full payment of a salary increment owed from January to November 2024, palliatives covering October 2023 to November 2024, additional pension allowances, and a refund of deductions from the salaries of medically discharged soldiers, Punch reports .
This protest stems from frustration over months of unfulfilled promises and delayed payments, despite earlier approvals.
The blockade left many ministry staff parking outside as negotiations with the retirees continued.
