A retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Ari Mohammed Ali, has denied reports alleging his dismissal from the force due to age falsification and breaches of police rules.
He described the reports as false and misleading, saying they were meant to damage his reputation.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Anas Alemani, Ali defended his long career with the Nigeria Police Force, stating that he retired honorably after serving with dedication and professionalism.
He clarified that he joined the police on March 3, 1990, as part of Course 16 and trained at the Police Academy in Kaduna.
Throughout his career, Ali worked in various states, including Delta, Bayelsa, Lagos, Rivers, and Kano, and at the Police Staff College in Jos.
Ali also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Lagos, where he earned the Security Watch Africa Award for Excellence as the Best Operations Officer in 2018.
As Commissioner of Police in Delta State from 2021 to 2023, he contributed to making the state one of the safest in Nigeria.
In 2023, he was promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police, stationed in Lagos, before being redeployed to the Force Headquarters in 2024 as AIG Community Policing.
He was later assigned to Kano State as AIG Zone 1.
His promotion to Deputy Inspector General of Police came on November 24, 2024, and he served in this capacity until his retirement on March 1, 2025, upon reaching the age of 60 and completing 35 years of service.
