Release Kanu As Our Christmas Gift, Ohanaeze Tells Tinubu

In an earnest appeal, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has implored President Bola Tinubu to consider releasing Nnamdi Kanu, the detained IPOB leader, as a significant gesture of peace for the festive season.

In a press statement issued by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary General of the Ohaneze Ndigbo, they noted that the release of Kanu would bring an end to the artificial security challenges created in the South East by criminals using Nnamdi Kanu as an excuse.

The group underscored the immense economic toll the region has suffered, estimating losses exceeding 42 trillion naira since Kanu’s incarceration during the Buhari administration.

Calling on Tinubu to address past systemic failures contributing to the region’s security challenges, Ohanaeze Ndigbo emphasized unity and urged stakeholders’ support to foster peace and justice.

“We encourage all stakeholders and members of the public to support this plea for peace and justice in the Southeastern region.

“The release of Nnamdi Kanu will not only bring solace to the people but also restore confidence in the leadership’s commitment to the welfare and security of the Igbo people”, the group stated.
