Public Servant Files for Divorce Over Wife’s Alleged Hygiene Issues

Adeboye Omotayo, a public servant, has filed for divorce at the Jikwoyi Customary Court, citing his wife Ella’s alleged poor hygiene as the primary reason for the breakdown of their marriage.

According to Vanguard, Omotayo, who resides within the court’s jurisdiction, testified that his wife’s failure to maintain cleanliness had caused significant strain in their relationship.

“She has always struggled to keep the house clean. When I come home after work, expecting to relax, the house is often untidy and smells unpleasant,” Omotayo shared.

He went on to claim that the situation had worsened over time, as his wife also stopped taking care of her personal appearance. “She no longer cares for herself and is frequently unkempt,” he added.

Omotayo also accused his wife of losing affection and respect for him, stating that it seemed she had only remained in the marriage to have children. He further alleged that she and her family members had teamed up to insult and threaten him.

Ella, a businesswoman, denied the accusations, presenting a defense that contradicted her husband’s claims during the court session.

The presiding judge, Thelma Baba, encouraged the couple to consider reconciliation, especially for the sake of their children.

The case has been adjourned to January 28, when the court will hear an update on the couple’s efforts to settle the matter or proceed with further hearings.
