The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment of new Commissioners of Police for Kogi and Edo states.
Miller Gajere Dantawaye has been named the Commissioner of Police for Kogi State, succeeding CP Chukwuka Bertrand Onuoha, who is set to retire on 22 January 2025.
In a similar development, Betty Enekpen Otimenyin has been appointed as the Commissioner of Police for Edo State. She replaces CP Peter Umoru, who will retire on 25 January 2025.
Dantawaye brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for Operations in the Federal Capital Territory, as well as Area Commander in Adamawa, Lagos, and Oyo states. He also served as ACP in the Police Special Fraud Unit.
Otimenyin’s extensive experience includes roles as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Plateau and Edo commands and as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Anambra and Benin.
Chairman of the PSC, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), has called on the newly appointed commissioners to demonstrate commitment and prioritise enhancing security in their respective states.
The appointments have been sent to the Inspector General of Police for necessary implementation, according to The Nation.
