Hon. Oriyomi Adewunmi Onanuga, a prominent member of the Federal House of Representatives, has passed away following a brief illness.
According to Politics Nigeria, Onanuga, who represented the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, was 60 years old. At the time of her death, she served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives. Neither the National Assembly nor her family have yet issued an official statement confirming the sad news.
Born on December 2, 1965, in Hammersmith, London, to Nigerian parents, Onanuga was both a successful politician and entrepreneur. She secured a seat in the House of Representatives in 2019 under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In addition to her role as Deputy Chief Whip, Onanuga chaired the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, where she was a strong advocate for gender equality and the welfare of society.
