Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Kamba, an Abuja developer, has announced his intention to take legal action against Barr Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, and sue the Director of the Development Control for what he sees as an overreach of their powers.
This decision comes after the Federal Capital Development Authority demolished a duplex under construction on Plot 226, Cotonou Street, Wuse Zone 6, which Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Kamba claimed ownership of.
The reason for the demolition was the allegation that the building was constructed on land owned by someone else without a valid title.
According to a statement released by his lawyer, Okechukwu C. Uju-Azorji in Daily Trust, the developer intends to initiate contempt proceedings against the FCT Minister for alleged abuse of the FCT High Court’s processes.
Kamba stated that the plot rightfully belongs to his client’s predecessor in title, who had built a guest house known as the “Boys’ Quarters” on the plot and had been collecting rent from it for over 25 years. In 2019, they sold the property and transferred possession to their client.
