The Anambra State Police have successfully recovered the vehicle of Justice Azuka, a lawmaker representing Onitsha North Constituency, who was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, in Onitsha.
Azuka was reportedly abducted by armed men while on his way home for the Christmas holidays.
In a statement released on Thursday, Anambra State Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that the lawmaker’s abandoned vehicle was located during a rescue operation by officers from the Inland Town Division.
“Despite the lawmaker’s whereabouts still being unknown, police personnel are working tirelessly to ensure his safe rescue,” Ikenga stated.
He added, “As part of an ongoing operation, officers from the Inland Town Division recovered the vehicle of Honourable Justice Azuka, who was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, around 9:20 p.m. along Ugwunapampa Road, Onitsha. The abandoned vehicle was found at Upper Iweka Road by the rescue team.”
Police Commissioner Nnaghe Obono Itam has instructed the team to intensify their efforts to locate and free the lawmaker. Further updates will be provided as developments unfold.
