The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to the abduction of Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.
According to Vanguard, the suspects, Agbojule Smart (27) and Keleke Michael (30), were intercepted early Friday, January 24, 2025, by operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Squad as they attempted to leave Lagos State.
In a statement released by Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, it was revealed that ₦2.25 million, believed to be part of the ransom, two locally made rifles, and 11 live cartridges were recovered from the suspects.
The arrests followed a directive from Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to pursue those involved in the crime. During questioning, the suspects admitted their involvement in the kidnapping and confirmed their membership in a four-man gang, two of whom had been neutralized during prior police operations.
Adejobi praised the operatives for their diligence and emphasized the police’s unwavering commitment to tackling crime and promoting security nationwide.
The incident began on the night of January 16, 2024, when masked assailants abducted Mrs. Odumosu from her home in Arepo, Ogun State. Less than a week later, police operatives, supported by technical intelligence from Force Headquarters, rescued her after a gunfight with the kidnappers in a swampy area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
