Police nab three for stealing transformer cables

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three individuals for allegedly vandalizing and stealing transformer cables in Wuro Dole, Girei Local Government Area.

As reported by NAN, According to a statement released on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence from a reliable source.

The arrested individuals, identified as Rabiu Ali (28), Muhammad Musa (42), and Abubakar Usman (18), were reportedly part of a group of six who conspired to tamper with a transformer and remove armoured cables for illegal financial gain. Three of their accomplices are still on the run.

Nguroje stated that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be prosecuted once the inquiry is completed.

Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended the Girei Divisional Police Officer and his team for their prompt action. He also instructed the Deputy Commissioner of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case and ensure the arrest of the remaining suspects.

The police urged members of the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities around electrical infrastructure to help curb acts of vandalism.
