Police nab Lagos nurse over death of woman undergoing BBL procedure

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a nurse in connection with the death of a 36-year-old woman, identified only as Abiola. The arrest was confirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin on Wednesday.

Hundeyin reported that the nurse was taken into custody following a complaint received by the Maroko Police Division on Tuesday at around 11:40 a.m.

The complaint was filed by the deceased’s driver, who stated that early Monday morning at approximately 3:00 a.m., he was asked to transport Abiola from her residence at Diamond Estate, Sangotedo-Lekki, to a clinic in Lekki Phase 1 for a BBL injection.

Upon arrival, the clinic’s owner instructed the nurse to administer the injection. According to the police, Abiola subsequently lost consciousness and began gasping for breath.

“The victim was rescued and rushed to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1 for treatment, where she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Based on the report, the scene was visited by a team of detectives. The hospital was also visited, where the corpse was inspected and photographed, before it was evacuated to a public morgue for autopsy,” he said.

Hundeyin said that the said nurse had been arrested and investigation was in progress.
