Police, JTF Rescue Three Kidnap Victims in Anambra

Security operatives in Anambra State have rescued three kidnapped victims along the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.

The state police command, working alongside the Joint Security Task Force (JTF), successfully carried out the operation on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement issued in Onitsha, confirmed the rescue, stating that the victims were immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment due to injuries sustained from their captors.

“They are currently receiving medical attention and will be debriefed once they are stable,” he added.

According to Ikenga, security personnel across the state were placed on high alert after the abduction was reported in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area. This swift response, he said, played a key role in securing the victims’ release.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, directed officers to intensify efforts to track down the kidnappers and ensure their arrest.

He also reassured residents of the command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property, emphasizing that security operations would continue to prevent criminal activities in the state.
