Police Dismiss Allegations in Escape of Anambra Lawmaker’s Suspected Killers

The Anambra State Police Command has denied involvement in the escape of two suspects linked to the killing of State Assembly lawmaker, Justice Azuka.

Azuka, a member of the Labour Party representing Onitsha-1 Constituency, was reportedly murdered by suspected kidnappers.

Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga stated in Awka that officers would not sabotage their own efforts after risking their lives to arrest the suspects.

He added that the police had previously presented the suspects to the public and were now focused on re-arresting them.

The suspects escaped from custody during an operation to capture another individual connected to the crime.

Meanwhile, the officers involved in the security lapse are under investigation and may face disciplinary action.
