The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Brandy Nwatu, the passenger involved in an assault on a Bolt driver captured in a widely circulated video.
AFRIPOST reports that the incident, which took place in the Galadima area of the FCT, drew significant attention on social media after footage showed the driver being attacked.
In response to a distress call regarding the altercation, police officers led by the Divisional Police Officer of Galadima quickly intervened. According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the driver, Emmanuel Ebhohimen, was subsequently taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi for treatment, while the assailant was arrested.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a dispute over luggage handling escalated into the violent confrontation that injured the driver.
“Nwatu was later granted bail but is required to return for further proceedings on October 28, 2024,” Adeh stated.
The FCT Police Command expressed gratitude to the public for their swift reporting, which contributed to alleviating tensions surrounding the incident.
