A joint team of police and military operatives in Nasarawa State engaged in a gun battle that resulted in the death of two suspected armed robbers and the arrest of two others on Saturday.
Ramhan Nansel, the State Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed this during a briefing with journalists in Lafia.
According to Mr. Nansel, the Karshi Divisional Office received a distress call at about 3:10 a.m. regarding an ongoing robbery around Karshi By-Pass in Karu Local Government Area. Upon receiving the information, security operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene. The armed robbers, upon sighting the security team, initiated a shootout which led to the fatal injury of two criminals who later died in the hospital while receiving medical attention. Other suspects managed to escape with gunshot wounds.
Following the operation, the joint team conducted a thorough search of the area and apprehended two suspects, both residents of Bauchi State but residing in Nyanya and Orange Market Mararaba, Karu LGA.
Recovered items from the suspects included three cartridges, three cutlasses, 19 mobile phones of various brands, two laptops, and nine pairs of shoes, among others.
Mr. Nansel conveyed the appreciation of the Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, for the bravery displayed by the operatives during the operation. He assured that the police would continue to maintain vigilance and sustain the momentum against criminal activities in the state.
