Photos: Why Is Akure So Dirty And Smelling

Starnews Nigeria is still in search of why the Ondo State government has left Akure, the Ondo State Capital to be so dirty with unbearable stench due to the increased dumping of refuse on the major streets of the city.

A visit by Starnews Nigeria Correspondent shows that refuse are piling up the major streets of Akure, posing serious health risk despite an existing government agency in the city – the Ondo State Waste Management Board which is saddled with the responsibility of waste management.

Following our interviews with residents during spot check to Arakale, Cathedral and Oja-Oba roads, Starnews Nigeria gathered that traders and residents of the town are already used to the refuse and the stench it is generating; for according to them, it is no more news to anyone in the city.

The capital city is creating more refuse than it could handle and the government is not doing anything about it.

The story is the same following our visit to Ondo road, and other commercial streets in Akure on Sunday afternoon.

The Perm Sec in Min of Environment had retired. The one in Waste Mgt Board had been posted to Min of Culture. They are experts in Environmental Management. May God will help our govt.
