The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has debunked the purported resignation of Mr. Leye Igbagbo, the Director of Media and Publicity of the party from his position.
Starnews NG had reported on Thursday (today) that Leye Igbagbo officially resigned from his position as the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP in Ondo State.
But in a sharp response on Thursday evening, Barr. Oluseye Olujimi, State Secretary of the PDP, through a statement, said that Hon Leye Igbabo did not resign from his office but that his tenure lapsed. He, however, said the Ondo State Caretaker Committee of the Party has graciously approved his reappointment with immediate effect.
“Our attention has been drawn to the news of the purported resignation of the Director of Media and Publicity, PDP, Ondo State, Hon Leye Igbabo.
“We wish to clearly state that Hon Leye Igbabo did not resign from his office but that his tenure lapsed. However, the Ondo State Caretaker Committee of the Party has graciously approved his reappointment with immediate effect,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, a source at the party Secretariat told Starnews NG that the issue that led to the initial resignation of Mr Igbagbo had been amicably resolved in a meeting with the State Chairman and State Secretary of the party to save the PDP from further embarrassment as the November 16, governorship election approaches.
“We acknowledge Leye Igbagbo diligence to duties and commitment to the party, the reason for his reappointment and we do hope that he will bring his experience to further manage the party’s publicity job more than ever before”, the statement further stressed.
