PDP governorship Aspirant suspends statewide tour in Ondo over Coronavirus

Banji Okunomo, leading governorship Aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has announced the suspension of his ongoing statewide tour to the 18 Local Governments of the state to heed government approach in mitigating the outbreak of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

He gave this hint while speaking with Starnews NG correspondent in a telephone interview on Saturday morning.

”The suspension of my tour to the18 local governments of Ondo State is necessary because of the value I have for human lives. Part of the measures also introduced by the State government to curb the spread of Coronavirus is to avoid public gathering for now. Consequently, I have suspended resumption of my visit to our leaders and members of our party in the other remaining local governments of Ondo State pending when we would get further clearance from the government.

”I apologise for the inconveniences these might have caused some members of our party who were expecting me in their respective local governments,” Okunomo said.

Starnews NG reports that Okunomo and his team had two weeks ago begun visitation to the 18 local governments of Ondo State to give support to PDP executives from the ward to local government over the ongoing congresses of the party in the State.

Okunomo and his team had visited eleven local governments in Ondo State and left with seven local governments. Those local governments visited so far include: Akoko North East, Akoko South East, Owo, Ose, Ondo West, Ondo East, Ifedore, Idanre, Akure North, Odigbo and Irele.

Those yet to be visited are: Okitipupa, Ileoluji/Okeigbo, Akure South, Ilaje, Ese Odo, Akoko North West, and South West, Starnews NG can report.
