PDP Exposes APC’s Alleged Plan To Compromise Ondo Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has accused the Ade Adetimehin-led All Progressives Congress (APC) of scheming to manipulate the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for November 16.

In a statement signed by Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, the PDP’s State Publicity Secretary, the party claimed that Adetimehin, APC’s Ondo State chairman, had submitted a list of two party loyalists per polling unit to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers.

According to the PDP, these individuals, who are APC members, were neither trained by INEC for the roles nor qualified to serve as ad-hoc election staff.

The PDP alleged that the APC is desperate to compromise the election due to its failure to deliver on its promises to the people of Ondo State.

“The entire world is watching,” the party warned, as it reiterated its demand for the immediate redeployment of Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ondo State, whom it accused of colluding with Adetimehin in what it described as an “evil plot.”

Kennedy Ikantu Peretei urged all stakeholders to adhere to the rules of fair play.

“Nobody can hide behind one finger,” he added, expressing hope that public scrutiny would deter any foul play.

The PDP’s warning comes amid heightened tensions as Ondo residents prepare to cast their votes in a high-stakes election that could shape the state’s future political landscape.
