PDP Crisis: Bode George Calls for Justice, Unity Among Party Leaders

Amid the ongoing leadership crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Board of Trustees (BoT) member Bode George has urged party leaders to prioritize justice and fairness in resolving internal conflicts.

According to Promptnews, Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television program, George warned that if the crisis continues unchecked, the PDP could become directionless. He called on party elders to act responsibly and avoid using party structures to sideline others.

“As an elder and one of those elected at the party’s first convention in December 1999, I appeal for calm. This is not the time to manipulate the party’s framework to undermine anyone,” he said.

Call for Fairness in Disciplinary Actions

George cautioned against rushed disciplinary measures, emphasizing that those overseeing the process must act with integrity to maintain credibility. He also highlighted the need for justice, fairness, and equity, stressing that while the party has overcome initial challenges, it must now focus on restoring stability.

“The responsibility before us is to ensure fairness. The party is already facing a storm, and if care is not taken, it could lose direction and collapse,” he warned.

Recognition of Sunday Ude-Okoye as PDP National Secretary

Addressing the PDP Board of Trustees’ recent decision to recognize Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary, George reaffirmed his support for the ruling, citing the absence of any counterdecision from the Court of Appeal.

“I fully support the decision because the court ruling stands unchallenged. However, if Samuel Anyanwu takes the case to the Supreme Court and the ruling is reversed, we must respect that decision,” he stated.

Appeal for Party Unity

George urged PDP members to set aside personal ambitions and work collectively to rebuild the party, warning that failure to do so could weaken its structure ahead of future elections.
