Passengers plane hits another aircraft on tarmac, says airline authority

An Air Canada plane hit another aircraft on the tarmac at Vancouver International Airport Sunday afternoon, the airline says.

“We can confirm that an Air Canada Rouge Airbus A319 aircraft and Jazz Air Canada Express Q400 aircraft made contact on the tarmac at YVR this afternoon,” Air Canada said in a statement.

“While being pushed back from the gate, the Rouge plane’s wingtip made contact with that of the Q400, which was parked at a nearby gate.”

There were no injuries to either customers or ground personnel, according to the statement.

“Customers on both flights will travel to their final destinations on other aircraft today,” it said.

Vancouver Airport Authority confirmed there were no reported injuries, saying YVR Fire and Rescue responded immediately.

“The safety and security of our passengers and employees is our top priority,” it said.
