Oyo State Workers Receive ₦12 Billion Minimum Wage Payment

The Oyo State government on Saturday disbursed ₦12 billion to its workers.

This payment aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde’s earlier promise to implement a ₦80,000 minimum wage starting January 1, 2025.

The new wage structure introduces a ₦50,000 increase for workers on Grade Levels 1 to 6, while those on Grade Level 17 see salary increments exceeding ₦180,000.

Additionally, over 40,000 retirees will benefit from a 33% pension increase and a minimum pension of ₦25,000, Punch reports.

To further assist retirees, the government has removed the ₦4,000 retirement form fee, ensuring about 4,500 workers retain nearly ₦20 million collectively.

This initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers and retirees.
