Osun court arraigns two men over pre-paid meters’ theft

Two men, Musibau Adisa, aged 55, and Busari Tajudeen, aged 51, appeared before the Osun State Magistrate Court in Osogbo on Tuesday, facing charges of stealing prepaid meters.

According to The PUNCH, the defendants allegedly committed the theft in the Arogunmosa Area of Osogbo. They appeared before Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba.

Police prosecutor Mr. Rasaq Olayiwola informed the court that the defendants stole a meter with serial number 45060226300 belonging to Ibrahim Semiu in May 2024 at Arogunmosa Area, Oke-Baale, Osogbo.

Olayiwola further alleged that the defendants sold the stolen meter and fraudulently obtained N80,000 from Oluwakemi Adeniji under the guise of selling her a prepaid meter.

These actions, according to Olayiwola, violated Sections 516, 390(9), and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol. II Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, 2002.

Representing the defendants, Kaisemobi Ngwoke requested the court to grant them bail under lenient terms.

Magistrate Adeyeba granted the bail, set at N50,000 with one surety each, and scheduled the next hearing for August 20, 2024.
