Oriyomi Hamzat Joins Accord, Declares Governorship Ambition for Oyo 2027

Founder of Ibadan-based Agidigbo FM, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has officially joined the Accord political party and announced his intention to contest the Oyo governorship election in 2027.

Hamzat made his announcement during a well-attended ceremony in Ibadan on Saturday, attracting a significant number of supporters and party stakeholders. He expressed that his decision was motivated by a genuine passion to serve the masses and promote good governance throughout Oyo State.

Promising unprecedented development if elected, Hamzat assured residents of transparent and people-centred leadership. “Now that I have joined Accord, I hereby declare my intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State. We will make Oyo State great again if I am eventually elected governor in 2027,” he declared, urging his supporters to remain steadfast as he relies on their collective backing for the task ahead.

Earlier, Accord National Chairman, Mr. Maxwell Nduibem, formally welcomed Hamzat and other defectors into the party. Nduibem described Accord as a party friendly to the masses and encouraged Nigerians to view it as a credible alternative. He praised Hamzat as a man of integrity who has genuine concern for the welfare of the people.

Accord National Secretary, Dr. Olubukola Ajaja, remarked that Hamzat’s entry into the party has strengthened its presence in the South-West and nationally. The News Agency of Nigeria also reported that notable politician Mr. Wale Ajani also defected to Accord. Ajani, a former aide to Governor Seyi Makinde and the immediate past Director-General of Oyo liaison offices in Abuja and Lagos, stated that his concern for the plight of the Oyo State populace informed his departure from the PDP.

Ajani assured Accord’s leadership of a massive mobilisation effort to attract more members. Hamzat’s declaration is reshaping the political landscape in Oyo, with hundreds of supporters gathering at the venue in solidarity.
