Ooni announces N1b empowerment in honour of President Tinubu’s Mother

In honour of the late Abibatu Mogaji, mother of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has announced an empowerment fund of N1billion for female entrepreneurs in Nigeria.

Oba Ogunwusi, during the 4th edition of the Royal African Young Leadership Forum (RAYLF), held at Oduduwa Hall of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, said the initiative was in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (SMEDAN).

The monarch, signing the agreement with SMEDAN representative, said the fund would assist young women with ideas in achieving their dreams.

Ooni said the fund was named in honour of the late Iyaloja General because of what she did while alive.

“We are going to create a fund, where we can support our businesses. So, if you have an idea, you’ll have access to capital. For this fund, we know one person so prolific in Nigeria, due to the entrepreneur par excellence, who did so well in this country.

“Even after her demise we still remember all she did in this world before she left. What are you going to be known for?

“We are naming this fund after Iyaloja Abibatu Mogaji Tinubu to help young people establish their own business.”
