The Federal Government has resolved the long-standing issue surrounding the mobilisation of Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
This decision, announced by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, followed discussions between the ministry and the Director-General of NYSC.
According to the Ministry of Education, only graduates who completed full-time HND programs are now eligible for NYSC mobilisation, while those who studied part-time remain excluded from the scheme. This change addresses concerns previously raised by HND graduates who were denied access to the programme despite completing their studies through full-time channels.
To ensure a smooth mobilisation process, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has been instructed to speed up the collection of data for eligible graduates. Polytechnics across the country have also been directed to upload graduate information onto a newly developed HND admission portal, which will serve as the central database for mobilisation records.
The newly created portal aims to improve documentation and reduce past errors linked to incomplete admission details. The Education Ministry has urged all eligible HND graduates to complete the necessary procedures without delay to avoid missing out on the current mobilisation opportunity.
By implementing this decision, the government aims to provide equal chances for full-time HND graduates to participate in the NYSC program and contribute to national development.
