One killed, 2 injured as bus rams into Ondo youth carnival

Akure—One person was feared killed and two others injured as a bus rammed into some youths in lkare-Akoko area of Ondo State during the new year carnival.

Vanguard gathered that the youths were celebrating the carnival along the road when the unfortunate incident occurred.

The driver of the bus was alleged to have lost control of the bus following which he crushed the celebrants. Two of the injured youths were rushed to the hospital.

An eyewitness told newsmen: “This incident that happened yesterday (Monday) evening affected youths from the Olokelede area of Ikare, who were holding a procession from Ekan to Okela while the accident happened in the Sago area of the community.

“The two victims were seriously injured and were taken to the hospital but one of them gave up the ghost this morning (yesterday).”

The state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC, Ezekiel confirmed the incident but said there was no life lost in the incident

He said the crash was caused by a speed violation on the part of the driver of the vehicle.
According to him, “Only two were injured and no one died in the accident. The injured victims were taken to Inland Hospital, Ikare while the crashed vehicle was taken to FRSC base, Ikare for safekeeping.
