Ilaje and Ese Odo Students Union are Presently holding a protest in Akure, the Ondo State capital, against the administration of governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu led State Government over the outstanding of Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commssion (OSOPADEC) Bursary payment of 2016, 2017 and 2018 session.
In this video, the students who carried placards with various inscriptions, accused the government of being insensitive to their plights.
The Students were led in protest by the president of the National Association of Ilaje Students, (NAIS), comrade Balogun Adeola in conjuction with comrade Tina Tinatei, the president of the Federation of Ese Odo Local Governement Students (FELGOS) .
The duo who spoke to Starnews correspondent in Akure, jointly accused governor Akeredolu of playing politics with the payments of their bursary which they described as their entitlements.
They accused the governor of approving their bursary without cash backing.
“Akeredolu approved payment without cash backing. The OSOPADEC staff who spoke to us complained that governor Akeredolu did not release money for payment of our bursary despite his approval”, Baogun told starnews.
The students who protested at the office of OSOPADEC at Oba Ile, Akure, are presently mobilising themselves to the governor’s office as at the time of filing this report.
” You can see that the governor is playing politics with the payment of our bursary which is our constitutional rights. How can he approve bursary payment without cash backing? We are heading now to the governor’s office for the part B. of our protest”, Tina said.
