Ondo Poll: Sen. Tofowomo moves to reconcile aggrieved PDP members

The Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo, on Wednesday, waded into the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Senatorial district as a result of the fall out of the governorship primary and the subsequent announcement of Hon. Ikengboju Gboluga as running mate to Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).

The meeting which lasted for 5 hours was a stakeholders meeting of Ondo South leaders at the instance of the distinguished Senator in his country home of Ileoluji, the headquarters of Ileoluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Starnews Nigeria reports that the meeting centred on how to reconcile and appease all the aggrieved members of the party to ensure the victory of Jegede and Gboluga, the governorship candidate and deputy candidate of the PDP ahead of the election slated for October 10, 2020, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

At the meeting, Senator Tofowomo and Jegede appealed to all the leaders of the PDP in Ondo South to put every divided interest together and work in unity for the interest of the party to reclaim Ondo State from the ruling APC by October.

Notable Faces at the Meeting

Starnews Nigeria learnt that many issues were trashed but there were divergent positions and submissions with some people allegedly refusing to reveal their minds.

Meanwhile, Banji Okunomo, the only governorship aspirant from Ondo South who graced the meeting talked tough and expressed his grievances.

It was also gathered that Hon Bitire Solomon, one of the aggrieved leaders of the PDP from Ondo South also expressed his anger during the meeting.

The meeting ended with a resolution that Jegede should spring into action to meet all the aggrieved members and leaders of the PDP across the six local governments of Ondo South before things get worst for the party ahead of the election.

Five other governorship aspirants from the Senatorial District, Chief Eddy Olafeso, Chief Sola Ebiseni, Chief Godday Erewa, Senator Boluwaji Kunlere and Otunba Bamidele Akingboye failed to attend the meeting without a reason from any of them.
