The Nigerian Navy in conjunction with other security operatives like the police and the Nigerian Civil Defense Corps has said lives and properties would be protected before, during and after the governirship election billed for Oct. 10 in Ondo State.
Starnews Nigeria reports that security operatives made this known during a secury patrol tagged “Operation Show Force ” held on October 1, 2020, at Igbokoda.
The troops accomplished with news agencies navigated through some communities of Ilaje /Ese Odo local governments like Igbekebo, Agadagba, Akotogbo the boundary between Ondo and Edo state, Adolesemo Bolowo, Obenla, Oberemina, Jiriwo, Odofado, Gbagiramese and stopped at Awoye.
While on the trip, there were songs and gallantry displays by the security operatives. The people at the various communities were glad to see the operation.
While addressing newsmen, the Commander, 32 Artillery Brigade in Akure, Brigadier General Zakari Logun Abubakar, reiterated the aims of the operation. He said it will foster peaceful coexistence in the communities especially in Yasere that was invaded by some suspected hoodlums early yesterday.
He assured the inhabitants of the communities to shun any form of intimidation as the gallant officers are battle-ready. He said the officers are on ground not to cause fear or intimidation but to protect lives and properties.
Also the Commanding Officer, Forward Operating Base Igbokoda, Navy Captain Shuaibu Mohammed Ahmed also assured the inhabitants of the various communities that the military agencies are always there to secure them.
He urged them to relax and get ready to cast their votes without fear or intimidation, he added said the military officers are on the ground and ready to combat any form of indiscipline before, during and even after the coming gubernatorial election.
He stressed further that the Base has been successfully curbing criminal acts targeted to disrupt especially economic activities by some unscrupulous criminals
