Ondo PDP laments rising cost of living, building materials, others

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State on Thursday lamented the rising cost of living and the constant increase in the prices of building materials in the country.

Leaders of the party in a chat with journalists at the party’s secretariat in Akure, Ondo State, expressed concerns over the alleged sorry state of Nigeria’s economy. They insisted that Nigerians are tired of unproductive promises and talks by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), saying the party is taking steps in the negative direction to address the worsening situation of the economy.

According to the Vice-Chairman of the Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign council in the state, Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), “the PDP is very concerned about Nigeria because every day the country is going down. We are not perfect, but the hardship is much and unbearable. The economy is nosediving. The best of APC is not good for Nigeria and they are taking steps in the negative direction to address the worsening situation of our economy.

“The cost of building materials and the cost of living are unbearable. For the sake of the nation, the success of Nigeria depends on all of us, we can’t continue like this”, he said.

Starnews Nigeria reports that the State Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Fatai Adams, appreciated the support and contributions of the media as the fourth estate of the realm while introducing Senator Boluwaji Kunlere as the new Director-General of the Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign council in the State who replaced Chief Eddy Olafeso who was promoted as Southwest Zonal Liaison Desk Officer.

While seeking a balance news reportage and a wonderful working relationship with the Media during and after the general election, Adams lamented the tyrannical situation of Nigeria which according to him was created by the ruling APC with untold hardships on the citizens of the country.

“Things are very worst in the country under APC, we now have ATM queues, petrol station queues, PVC queues. I employ Nigerian citizens to get their PVCs ready to vote out APC and elect Atiku Abubakar for president for a new dawn”, he said.

On his part, Senator Kunlere thanked the party for his appointment as the State D.G. for Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign council.

“Let me thank the leadership of the party for my appointment and reposing confidence in me on this new assignment. I don’t want to talk too much because journalists know the truth. The APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said it all while in Abeokuta. He already said that Nigerians should vote out APC. He also lamented in Calabar that the exchange rate of N200 naira per dollar left by the PDP government is now $1 against N800.

“We don’t ask you, people, to manipulate election results for us. But we urge the media to report the reality of Nigeria’s situation. I commended the PDP for the telecommunication industry. At the tip of a finger now, your media report is everywhere. This is part of the legacy of our party, PDP,” he added.

Speaking at the media parley, a former Zonal Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the southwest, Mr Ayo Fadaka, said “what suddenly happen to the fighting spirit of Nigerians? They no longer fight against injustice and protest against the hardship in the country. Whoever is to be president must be somebody strong, and healthy. We must educate Nigerians that they must not elect another sick president in this country. The presidency is a serious business and we must not repeat the mistake of the past”, he added

A chieftain of the party, Mr Bode Obanla, Comrade Folorunso Makinde, PDP state youth leader, Mr Leye Igbagbo, PDP state director of media and publicity and other members of the state executives and presidential campaign council were in attendance at the Media Parley, Starnews Nigeria reports.
